Wildlife

We have a lot of wildlife where we live. Well, as much as you can in southern Michigan. Our wildlife is bitter that humans have built houses and dug septic fields, so they decide to move in. This groundhog/woodchuck has declared his home to be under our porch. It is not a very big porch; really, it is a stairway. Regardless, he has decided to live under it. He is even brazen enough to sit on it. Someone needs to hand him a lemonade.

  1. Oh poor you!

I remember passing one of these on the side of the road once, when driving with my dad. Our conversation went something like this:

    Dad: I forgot
    Me: You forgot what?
    Dad: Cutting Grass.
    Me: Do you mean lawnmowing?
Dad: No, in Cameroon, we call that animal "Cutting Grass".
Me (looking at the animal): Oh, you mean a groundhog.
Dad: Yes. It is really delicious when you thrust it through with a stick and roast it until the fur falls off.

He'd probably help you out, if he was alive. ;-)
(Just kidding, I don't think he'd be willing to kill an animal anymore, if he were.)

    Love,
    Beth

  2. That's funny! Colin actually asked if we were going to eat it! Then, we got into a discussion about what animals we eat and what people in other countries eat.

He is causing damage to our stairway, though. I am afraid that in the end, my dad's .22 will be his last memory. He is causing a lot of damage in my dad's hay field. :(
